Floozie joins the One Million Pillowcase Challenge!

Flamingo Island Designs, and Floozie Flamingo have joined All People Quilt , and many major sponsors to participate in the One Million Pillowcase Challenge.  The pupose of this challlenge, which is dirceted at quilters, sewers, and people everywhere is to join forces and sew one million pillowcases for charity in 2010. 

Here is what APQ has to say regarding this challenge:

“Calling all quilters, sewers and crafters! American Patchwork & Quilting is challenging you to join our efforts to Make a Pillowcase, Make a Difference. Every pillowcase can make a difference in your community. A pillowcase can provide comfort for a cancer patient, hope for a foster child, encouragement for a battered woman, or beauty for a nursing home resident.”

The official counter on the page lists 17,643 pillowcase donations as of today! 

You, too,  can become a part of this worthy cause!  Flamingo Island Designs is offering an assortment of precut Pillowcase Kits for your convenience.  If you want to provide your own fabric,  try one of these FREE PATTERNS .   Donate your finished pillowcases locally or mail them to Floozie.   Floozie will be donating all pillowcases she receives  to ConKerr Cancer, for distribution to children suffering from cancer.  If you  mail your pillowcases to Floozie for distribution, she will send you a COUPON for $3.00 OFF your next order from Flamingo Island Designs.  Our goal is 100 pillowcases, so please help us by participating in this worthy cause.

This is Floozie, our virtual flamingo.  She’s a saucy flamingo who has been brought to life on this fusible raw-edge applique quilt.  The pattern is printed directly on freezer paper, no tedious tracing involved, and is ready for the fun to begin!  Floozie comes with her own interchangeable wardrobe and there is  a pocket on the back to store her clothing.  It’s an updated version of paper dolls!  Patterns and kits are available on our website, Flamingo Island Designs.
